She received her M.S. degree in Speech and Language Pathology from San Jose State University. Nicole has professional expertise in the management and treatment of developmental speech and language disorders and neurological speech and language disorders.
Nicole’s Work Experience
Nicole has extensive experience in working with children of all ages in the assessment, treatment, and management of speech and language disorders associated with Autism, ADD, ADHD, Auditory Processing disorders, motor speech delays, and myofunctional disorders.
She has also worked with the language rehabilitation of adults in sub-acute medical settings. After incorporating myofunctional techniques into her practice, she began to see better results with her clients. This led her to further her training in myofunctional disorders and their treatment. She attended intensive training courses from the myoacademy at UCLA.
From there, Nicole has had great success with myofunctional therapy with her clients and believes that she has found the “missing piece” to her practice. She values and enjoys collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, where she can incorporate strategies from occupational therapy to behavior modification into her treatment.
When working with children, Nicole uses and teaches parents techniques that include: visual strategies, play, social skills, picture exchanges, social stories, sign, direct teaching, and oral-motor/motor-speech hierarchies.
Alexa graduated with her master’s degree from San Diego State University. During her time at SDSU, she participated in neuroscience research, studying patient’s language abilities post stroke. She then transitioned her focus on child language and spent her graduate school career focused on early child language intervention, specifically in language differences and disorders. Leading parent and caregiver workshops about language development, Alexa specializes in early childhood language intervention and speech sound disorders. After starting her career at Strategies for Success, Alexa has also found her passion in myofunctional disorders and disfluencies. In her spare time Alexa likes to cook, be around friends and family, and spend time at the beach with her two dogs, Jax and Marley!
